Objectives
After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Review the rationale and criteria for expanding access to thrombectomy for stroke patients in the SELECT LATE clinical trial.
  2. Identify the incidence and risk of post- stroke seizures in various sub-categories of stroke.
  3. Describe appropriate EEG lead care for patients requiring continuous EEG monitoring.
  4. Summarize stroke etiologies and acute stroke management for the pediatric population.
  5. Discuss data on stroke outcomes and how Neuro-Prognostication and Palliative Care can support patients with major stroke.
  6. Cite the most common causes or mimics for inpatient stroke alerts.
  7. List the bedside nurse’s role in an inpatient stroke alert.
  8. Indicate new medications for weight loss/ diabetes management and impact on stroke prevention.
  9. Examine the health disparities in northeast Ohio and our strategies to address the challenges.
  10. Discuss the interventions targeting racial/ethnic disparities in stroke prevention and treatment.
  11. Describe the TEAM peer educator’s role.
  12. Recognize interventions to best support and educate patient and family members in the early phase after stroke.
