Overview
Two-day session entitled the "17th Annual Update on Cardiovascular Disease" will be held on Oct 4-5, 2024, at the Tinkham Veale University Center at Case Western Reserve University. This highly-anticipated annual event will feature the very latest treatments available for every facet of cardiovascular disease. Day 1 is a dinner and challenging vascular case-based discussion featuring debates among vascular surgeons, interventional cardiologists, and vascular disease physicians. Day 2 is a full-day symposium with five tracks covering prevention and cardiovascular indications for GLP-1 RAs, drug-coated balloons in the coronary space, asymptomatic carotid artery disease, leadless pacemakers, management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and much more. The event's Plenary Session will feature Dr Joaquin Cigarroa from the Oregon Health Sciences University, who will discuss "The Cost of Innovation in Healthcare." Participants can attend either or both days. The target audience includes cardiologists, endocrinologists, vascular surgeons, internists and family practitioners as well as advanced care providers (NPs and PAs) who direct large clinical practices and/or teach in academic medical institutions. At the end of the conference, participants will be fully capable of taking this new information back to their communities and sharing it with their colleagues.

Objectives
After attending this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Interpret the latest cardiovascular outcomes data and guideline recommendations for GLP-1 RA therapies in the management of Type 2 diabetes.
  2. Compare the current roles of endarterectomy and stenting in the treatment of patients with carotid stenosis.
  3. Apply expert recommendations on how and when to use drug-coated balloons (DCB) – ideal situations for DCB application.
  4. Implement he latest lipid studies with expert perspective on the management of lipid disorders in 2024.
  5. Assess use of left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) to improve outcomes of patients with heart failure.
  6. Summarize strategies and clinical evidence for various approaches to achieve cardiac resynchronization.
  7. Acquire greater competence related to the day-to-day clinical management of HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy).
