1. Explain the basic pharmacological principles of buprenorphine initiation, maintenance, and monitoring in diverse clinical settings
2. Describe the syndemic overlap of HIV and OUD, including biological and behavioral risk factors, with an emphasis on screening and prevention.
3. Identify HIV risk screening strategies to be integrated into substance use assessments, including sexual and injection-related risk factors.
4. Outline initial steps for PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) initiation in high-risk patients, including laboratory requirements and linkage to care.
5. Understand the conceptual roadmap for subsequent training modules, including legal, documentation, pharmacologic, and psychosocial considerations in buprenorphine prescribing.
6. Recognize the impact of syndemic stigma, trauma, and structural barriers on patient engagement and outcomes.
7. Summarize key epidemiologic trends in Ohio for HIV and opioid overdose, highlighting local public health priorities and systems of care.
