1. Good Afternoon, Landry – We are looking forward to having you with us during Block 2: June 2 – June 27, 2025 for your Emergency Medicine Acting Internship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. We are beginning the process of building your schedule so wanted to check in to see if you will be making any requests for days off. To give you an accurate representation of what it is like to be an EM physician, you will be scheduled for approximately 15 shifts (Monday – Sunday ), 3 of which will be overnight. If you will need specific days off, please let me know the date and time as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate your requests. New for this year, our AI’s will do at least two shifts at University Hospitals Parma to get a feel for emergency medicine in a community hospital context. Please let us know if you have a vehicle that you will be able to drive to UH Parma. If not, we will attempt to arrange transportation for you on those days. Approximately two weeks before your start date, you will receive a welcome email with your schedule and important information and details about your AI. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to meeting you in June!
2. Define key concepts relevant to transgender health, including appropriate pronoun use, gender-affirming terminology, and commonly prescribed medications
3. Apply strategies for delivering culturally competent, inclusive, and compassionate care to transgender patients through improved communication, trust-building, and workplace inclusivity
4. Describe how gender identity and transition can impact a physician’s experience within the medical profession, including relationships with colleagues and patients
5. Recognize the role of gender-based privilege and bias in healthcare settings and how they influence professional interactions and opportunities
