2023 Concussion Management Recertification & Training

Activity Description

This program is intended for a community hospital audience including physicians, athletic trainers, and other members of the health care team that provide care to patients who have sustained concussions. Most presentations will target primary care and sports medicine physicians in clinical practice, though athletic trainers, other healthcare providers that work with patients that have sustained a concussion, office managers and administrators may also benefit from awareness and discussion of clinical initiatives and quality management issues.

1. Describe the Concussion Management Services and the Concussion Specialist Network at University Hospitals.
2. Recognize signs and symptoms that may indicate a more severe traumatic brain injury or other neurological event that requires urgent management.
3. Discuss the process, recommended tools, and recommended management changes from the 2022 Amsterdam Concussion in Sport Group Meeting and recently published consensus statement.
4. Identify concussion signs, symptoms, pathophysiology, expected outcome, and UH Concussion Management Resources.
